I have a love for music, movement and a lot of spontaneous adventures... 5am road trips, freezing ocean dips, hiking, dancing, chasing the sun.
If you suggest it I’ll most likely turn to you and say LET'S DO IT.
Some of my favourite moments in life are the ones where we are able to switch off the internal chatter, tune in and allow life to flow. With that said yoga is a powerful practice, it encourages me and so many others to slow down and just be. It balances our senses, grounds the mind and helps us to become mindful within our day to day actions.
I’m lucky enough to be able to combine and share my passion of yoga and music with you here at With Every Atom.
Each month I will be exploring a different style of yoga and creating a new mix to guide you through your practice.
A fitness based style it was born during the Seventies taking roots from both Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga. The poses are paired together to create seamless movement allowing the body to build internal heat, increase stamina, strength, flexibility and reduce stress.
‘‘Power Yoga is directed at creating the highest level of energy, vitality, and freedom. The only way to do this is to work with yourself, not against yourself. By working hard sensitively, we create an environment that’s healing and that honours each individual, an environment that respects our boundaries and works within him or her. In this way, we create an atmosphere conducive to natural expansion and growth.’’
– Bryan Kest
Power yoga is a challenging practice. It is easy to for the mind to wander or allow our focus to become about building physical strength rather than mental stillness and resilience.
Yoga asana is meant to challenge you, not dare you to compete.
Rather than ambition we can try to find peace with where our body is able to hold us within this moment, now.
Be conscious of your intention
What we bring to our yoga mat matters.
This month I’ve collated a mix that evokes a powerful practice, one the allows you to close your eyes, inhale, exhale and begin to move with the fire inside.
Step onto your mat and open up the next hour to being about your breath, your inner power, your fire, your practice.
P.S. Babe, don’t walk. Boogie
